Registration Requirements for all Public Work Contractors/Subcontractors
Requirements from the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) In 2014, the California legislature enacted several laws impacting public works contracting. Senate Bill 854 (SB 854) creates changes in the way the DIR monitors prevailing wage requirements. All contractors and subcontractors must register with the DIR and meet DIR requirements before bidding on public works contracts in California. No contractor or subcontractor may be awarded a contract for public work on a public works project unless registered with the DIR. Application and renewal are completed online with an annual, non-refundable fee of $300. Read the SB 854 Fact Sheet for a complete list of requirements. Additional information and the DIR registration form can be found here. |
